About The Institute

The Institute for Surgery and Innovation provides an independent, academically-affiliated Institute, which is based on training, research and technological innovation.

As we move into the 21st century, the time available to teach surgical trainees is becoming shorter, while the procedures that are performed and the equipment required to complete such procedures is increasing complex. Efficient surgical education is therefore an increasingly important part of having an adequately trained surgical workforce for the future.

The Institute for Surgery and Innovation provides an independent, academically-affiliated Institute, which is based on training, research and technological innovation. Courses are provided in the Center for Training for surgeons in practice, residents and fellows, medical students and allied health care professionals. The Center for Innovation focuses on product development and collaboration with industry to provide advice and guide future product development. The Center for Research supports research at institutional and multicenter levels into clinical, basic science and educational subjects.
